The Alberta Real Estate Association (AREA) published an article written by Stan Galbraith in their September newsletter. This newsletter is distributed to all real estate professionals in Alberta. AREA is the provincial professional association for all 10 real estate boards in Alberta and more than 10,000 realtors. AREA promotes excellence among all its members through advocacy, practice support and resources and education.

One of their initiatives in the area of education is the publication of a regular e-practice resource. AREAHub Monthly is a source of both information and education.

While the AREA website has a members only section, www.areahub.ca also offers resources for buyers and sellers of real estate in Alberta. For example, it offers a house-hunting checklist and a mortgage calculator. It also provides a section to answer FAQs from buyers and sellers that include special information on issues such as buying or owning a condominium along with definitions of terms that are commonly used by realtors in their listings such as single detached or townhouse.

Under the buyer and seller section of the AREA website, there is a Condo Glossary. This is a very helpful collection of common terms associated with condominiums in Alberta. Anyone who currently owns a condo or anyone thinking of buying will find this glossary extremely helpful. It provides practical and simple explanations to help clarify your understanding of condos and many of the unique terms you will encounter in dealing with condos.
